Thomas was referred to WHV by the Office of Pastoral Care at Morristown Medical Center. During our work with Thomas, WHV coordinated with the professional staffs at Cornerstone Family Services and Community Hope.
At age ninety, Thomas was bedridden and suffering with end-stage renal failure. He was receiving 24/7 care at the apartment he had occupied from the early 1970’s. His wife had passed away in the mid 1990’s.
Thomas had exhausted his savings and his monthly income was insufficient to cover his rent, utilities, food and homecare. His singular wish was to live out his remaining time in his “cherished” apartment, filled with his memories. Welcome Home Vets of New Jersey provided financial and legal assistance as well as court representation. Eviction proceedings were ‘halted’ and the landlord was fully compensated.
Thomas peacefully passed away on February 2, 2015. WHV was respectfully represented at his Memorial Service
